Why this site exists and how to read the game’s star map.

Many of you asked for a place to follow Earth Simulator’s development. Here it is: the game’s roadmap, a chronicle of versions and a field journal — short entries with videos, screenshots and notes on how the world is changing.
The star map
The roadmap is drawn as a star chart. Every update is a star system, and every feature is a planet on its orbit. Planets already in the game shine, and the ones in progress are teal. Hover a system and lines appear to the updates it rests on.
The map shows what already works, what each next system rests on, and in which order they are best built. The most important system is 3.0, Foundation. It’s an engine rebuild: the world becomes a globe, and the simulation moves to its own thread and becomes predictable. Without it there can be no multiplayer, no other planets and no truly living inhabitants.
The dates on the map are approximate: some things will arrive earlier, some later. The order matters more than the dates.
